Under the Full Moon: A Story of Heart and Resilience

Sometimes life tests us under the softest light. One moment we’re laughing beneath a full moon, and the next, everything changes. This is a story about strength that doesn’t shout it smiles, it shows up, and it reminds us what it means to have heart.

Tuesday night reminded us all how unpredictable life can be. One moment we were laughing under the bright glow of a full harvest moon, the kind that makes you stop mid-drill just to admire it, and the next, everything changed.

We were deep in practice, energy high, the field alive with movement, when an unforgettable and unfortunate accident happened. Two of our ladies collided during a drill. In that instant, the laughter stopped, the air grew still, and we saw Angie on the ground.

It turned out she had broken her leg. Our team immediately jumped into action, called for help and made sure she was accompanied all the way to the hospital. That’s the kind of team we are, in the mist of a devastating situation immediate response and reassurance everything will be okay. When Angie was helped off the field, she stayed calm, strong in the way only certain people can be. Later, from the hospital, she messaged us on our group chat, “Maybe it was the full moon. It is really packed tonight.”

And maybe she was right. There was something powerful in the air that night, something that stirred up more than just dust and adrenaline.

When the team found out she was okay, someone sent a message to the group chat saying they were just glad her foot was finally facing the right way. It made everyone laugh, even Angie, from her hospital bed. From that moment, her new nickname was born: Footloose.

Two days later, Thursday night, she rolled back into practice on a scooter, her leg bandaged, moving slower but smiling. The kind of smile that makes you forget the pain. That’s resilience. That’s heart.

The team couldn’t help but light up when they saw her glide across the sidelines. Even if she was just there to watch, her presence brought something calm and steady. We were all relieved knowing she was okay and that the worst part was behind her. Just having her there reminded us how strong the human spirit can be.

Watching her roll back onto that field reminded us that strength isn’t just about how much you can take, it’s about showing up anyway. It’s about courage in motion, spirit in recovery, and joy in the middle of discomfort.

That’s what life is all about, not perfection but perspective. Real stories. Real people. Real growth. It’s about moments like these, when everything gets messy and unpredictable, and we still find meaning anyway.

Life will always test us, sometimes in ways we never see coming. It throws us curveballs, collisions, and nights under a full moon that change everything. But if we’re lucky, we learn that strength isn’t found in staying unshaken, it’s found in how we steady ourselves again. It’s in the laughter that follows pain, the courage to show up while still healing, and the quiet gratitude for the people who stand beside us through it all.

Angie reminded us of that. She reminded us that spirit is stronger than circumstance, and that even when things bend or break, joy can still find its way through. She reminded us that community is what makes the comeback possible.

To Angie, or should we say, Footloose, your heart outshines every bruise and bandage. You are proof that even when the body breaks, the spirit can stay beautifully unshaken. You turned an accident into a story of resilience, a reminder that light can exist even in the toughest moments, and that sometimes, showing up with a smile is the bravest thing we can do. 💪🌕❤️

And to my team y’all are the definition of teammates. The way everyone checked in, offered help, and kept the energy up showed what true teamwork looks like. It’s not just about winning games or perfect plays, it’s about showing up for each other through laughter, through setbacks, and through every messy, beautiful moment in between. That’s what makes a team. ❤️🏉

What if resilience isn’t about bouncing back, but moving forward with grace?
