“Dream or Believe?” The Question My Garden Asked Me.
This morning, while sipping my coffee and walking through the garden, I found myself face-to-face with a moment of unexpected reflection. It came not from a book, a podcast, or even a conversation but from the tiny garden gnomes I had placed months ago. There they stood, right where I left them, facing two little doors.
One was painted blue with a sign that read: Dream.
The other was stone-framed, marked with the word: Believe.
And I swear, in that stillness, I felt like those doors were asking me something.
Which one will you walk through today, Geri?
That question stuck with me. Because I’ve learned that dreaming and believing are both powerful but they’re not the same.
Dreaming is where your imagination lives. It’s where the visions are born, the ‘what-ifs’ begin, and the heart starts to stir.
Believing is where your faith lives. It’s choosing to show up, even when the path is blurry, even when doubt whispers.
Lately, I’ve been embracing both. Dreaming up new chapters for The GB, imagining a bigger platform, a wider reach, a deeper impact. But I’ve also been believing, believing that my story matters, that the right people are finding me, that I don’t need to shrink to fit into spaces that don’t honor my essence.
I think a lot of us get stuck thinking we have to choose.
But maybe you don’t have to.
Maybe, like my little gnome, you get to stand there as long as you need. Maybe you knock on one door today, and the other tomorrow. And maybe, just maybe, the magic is in knowing that you are already worthy of what’s behind both.
So I’ll ask you the same question my garden asked me this morning:
Dream or Believe? Which door are you walking through?
