Small Feet, Big Energy

This is what joy in motion looks like.
My boys, running full speed across the open field, chasing the sky with a Spidey kite in hand. Their faces lit up with laughter, legs moving with purpose, completely focused on one mission: keep that kite in the air.
And in that moment, everything else faded away.
No stress. No plans. No pressure.
Just the wind, their energy, and full presence.
As I stood there watching them, I felt something shift inside me. I realized this is what growth looks like too. Not always in a classroom or a meeting. Not just in goals and timelines. But in allowing joy to guide the moment. In making space for freedom. In honoring what brings us back to ourselves.
We often say we should move our bodies for our health, and that’s true. But sometimes the deeper healing comes from moving to feel alive. To feel connected. To feel like we’re actually here, in the moment, not just passing through it.
Free time isn’t meant to be wasted or filled with guilt. It’s meant to be fun. It’s meant to bring peace. And when we give ourselves permission to play, to run, to laugh, to rest, or to just be silly with our kids, we are choosing presence over pressure. That’s not lazy or unproductive. That’s a radical kind of alignment.
Watching my boys reminded me that joy is not a reward for finishing our to-do list. It’s not something we need to earn. It is the medicine. It is the practice. It is the lesson.
So today, I moved too. Not for the sake of exercise, but for the sake of peace. I let my body stretch and breathe and be part of the moment. And I felt lighter. More grounded. More me.
Let your free time remind you who you are.
Let movement bring you back to your center.
Let joy be the thing you protect the most.
And if all else fails, chase the sky with a kite and see where it takes you.
